Building Furniture That Saves Oceans and Forests

We exist to solve two of Kenya’s most urgent environmental challenges — at the same time.

TwendeGreen Ecocycle is a Kenyan circular economy and environmental impact enterprise focused on transforming marine plastic waste into durable, sustainable furniture.

We exist to solve two major global challenges: plastic pollution in oceans and deforestation caused by traditional wood furniture.

By recycling plastic waste into strong boards and furniture, we offer a long-lasting alternative to timber — protecting forests, reducing waste, and supporting a cleaner planet.

Our Mission

Our mission is to conserve oceans, reduce plastic waste, advance sustainable manufacturing, and empower communities through education and engagement.

Our Vision

Our vision is to eliminate the need to cut down trees for furniture production by providing a sustainable, high-quality alternative made entirely from recycled plastic waste.

WHAT WE DO

From Plastic Waste to Long-Lasting Furniture. We collect marine and post-consumer plastic waste, recycle it into durable plastic boards, and manufacture furniture designed for schools, hotels, public institutions, and community spaces.

Our Furniture Is

  • Water-resistant
  • Rot-proof
  • Termite-proof
  • Weather-resistant
  • Built to outlast traditional wood

WHO WE SERVE

We work with organisations that value sustainability and long-term impact, including:

  • Schools and learning institutions
  • Government and county administrations
  • Non-governmental organisations
  • Hotels and hospitality brands
  • Public and community spaces

Our early success in schools enabled expansion into hospitality, public infrastructure, and institutional projects.

OUR HISTORY

TwendeGreen Ecocycle was founded in Mombasa, Kenya with a clear mission — address the marine plastic waste crisis in informal settlements while contributing to education development through affordable, durable school furniture.

We began by partnering with local community groups and waste collection companies, building a collaborative network to recover marine plastic before it reached the ocean. Individual waste collectors, community-based organisations, and recycling partners all became part of our supply chain.

Our innovative business model enabled us to create employment, reduce plastic waste, and improve student learning environments simultaneously — earning recognition including the Best Innovation Award in Mombasa 2024 from the Mombasa Youth Awards.
